Overview

Ragazzi, located in the heart of Sydney’s bustling Angel Place, takes Italian cuisine to a refined and contemporary level. This intimate restaurant offers a cozy and chic atmosphere, perfect for diners seeking a laid-back yet sophisticated experience. With a compact space that promotes an inviting and warm vibe, Ragazzi is an ideal spot for both casual dinners and special nights out, especially for those who appreciate carefully crafted pasta dishes and quality wines.

Their menu excels in showcasing Italian regional flavors with a modern twist. Signature dishes like the mafaldine with prawns, tomato, and kombu reflect a deep commitment to culinary innovation while respecting traditional techniques. Pasta lovers will find the variety impressive — from the silky Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe to the rich, truffle-infused Tagliatelle. Each pasta type is thoughtfully chosen to complement the ingredients and sauces, enhancing texture and depth of flavor in every bite.

Beyond pasta, Ragazzi shines with its creative starters and accompaniments. The Burrata served with ox heart tomatoes and chili oil perfectly balances creaminess and acidity, while the Cantabrian anchovy butter spread on sourdough offers a punch of umami that sets the tone for the meal. Also noteworthy is the Ravioli filled with Jerusalem artichoke and pecorino, paired with a subtle burnt honey glaze, which provides a delicate interplay of sweet and savory.

Service here is attentive without being intrusive, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. Staff members are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, often helping guests navigate the menu with personalized recommendations. The ability to sit at the bar and watch the chefs at work adds a dynamic, behind-the-scenes element that diners seem to appreciate.

Ragazzi caters especially well to food enthusiasts who relish exploring sophisticated pasta creations infused with bold, fresh flavors and innovative ingredient combinations. While some dishes, like the pork cavatelli, received mixed reviews, the consensus favors Ragazzi for its consistent quality and exciting tastes that set it apart from many other Italian establishments in Sydney.

In summary, Ragazzi is a taste-driven destination emphasizing Italian authenticity enriched by local Australian produce and expert craftsmanship. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Sydney, this spot invites you to indulge in vibrant, artfully prepared plates that celebrate both tradition and modernity in Italian dining.

Food was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!! This was the first meal I’ve ever had in Sydney and it seriously didn’t disappoint. Service was amazing; our waiter (I unfortunately didn’t catch her name, but she had dark curly hair ) was so sweet and gave us the best recommendations. We had the burrata and the octopus to start—both were incredible and we ended up adding on 2 more portions of octopus after the first one came. The mafaldine is an absolute MUST!!!! Dare I say the best pasta I’ve ever had will definitely be back!!!

Honestly… perhaps the best pasta i’ve ever had… Came here with no expectations as I did not make the booking but was immediately blown away by how flavourful and complex the pasta dishes were. Firstly, the starters were amazing and the anchovies were adequately salty and delicious. We then had 3 different pastas. All were amazing but the stand out had to be the malfadine with prawns, tomato and kombu. This sauce was simply to die for. I wish I had a cup to drink it up! I also loved how every pasta offered used different kinds of pasta and I got to experience the texture and taste of pasta i’ve never encountered before! The dessert was also delicious - a panna cotta with this refreshing flavoured shaved ice on top. Overall an amazing experience! Can’t wait to go back when i’m next in sydney!

Cosy dinner spot with tasty pasta. The pork cavatelli was quite average - I’d recommend the prawn malfadine and tuna starter. I overall still prefer their sister venue Fabricca, but nonetheless this was an enjoyable meal.

Loved the cozy vibe at Ragazzi — small, chic, and super inviting. The staff were all smiles and really attentive, which made the whole experience even better. The pasta was beautifully presented and full of flavor (a bit salty for our taste, but still delicious!). Such a cute spot for a nice dinner in the city.

We were visiting Sydney and were recommended this restaurant by a bartender in the area and it did not disappoint. We were able to walk in and sit at the bar top which we really loved! It was cool being able to see the behind the scenes. The staff was meticulously plating and working on everything. The food and drinks were wonderful and a unique take on Italian. The burrata was great and the sauce on the asparagus ravioli was very unique

Had a wonderful dinner at Ragazzi. The restaurant was packed when we arrived, fortunately we had a booking. Despite the crowd, the service was attentive and the food was served without any delays. The standout dish for me was the beef tartare — incredibly fresh, beautifully seasoned, and paired perfectly with the nashi pear and straw potatoes. My friend absolutely loved the Ravioli of Jerusalem artichoke; the flavours were rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced. The ambience, the food, and the overall experience made it a fantastic night out.

Did a solo dinner here and WW what a meal! I got the spanner crab casarecce and the panna cotta topped with granita for dessert The service and vibes were impeccable. I loved watching the chefs prepare dishes right by my the counter seats. I was so engaged with the kitchen. The only time I was on my phone was to take photos of my food. If you love Italian food and a great wine selection, this is your spot.

Took my colleagues here and we all agreed it was the best pasta of our lives. One of them said she'd never understood people wanting to lick their plates, but she had the urge for the first time in her life here! The steak tartar was also delicious. Great service. Can't wait to go back.
